Grand Forks is the third-largest city in the State of North Dakota (after Fargo and Bismarck) and is the county seat of Grand Forks County. Bonanzaville and Fort Totten State Historic Site will appeal to history buffs. Get a sense of the local culture at Maple River Winery and Pembina State Museum. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Grand Forks: Fargo (Veterans Memorial Bridge, Plains Art Museum, &more), Midland Continental Depot Transport Museum (in Wimbledon) and Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site (in Cooperstown). There's lots more to do: see where the action happens at Ralph Engelstad Arena, admire the masterpieces at North Dakota Museum of Art, sample the tasty concoctions at Junkyard Brewing Company, and take an in-depth tour of Grand Forks County Historical Society Myra Museum.

If you are flying in from Canada, the closest major aiport is Hector International Airport. Expect a daytime high around -8°C in January, and nighttime lows around -20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
