  • This park is stunning and offers a national park experience without the crowds. Every time I am there I see numerous deer and bison and the prairie dog towns are fun to see as well. Make sure that you get out of your car and take a hike to get a true taste of the beauty this park has to offer. Wind Canyon is one of my favorite areas, followed by the petrified forest.
  • I love being able to travel the park, bug free, and see the landscape, wild horses, and listen to the Ranger talks. It's probably not the most popular, but it's my go to for parks. So peaceful!
  • Very scenic rest area. The badlands are beautiful, sometimes you see buffalo wandering the parking lot. Nice restroom and information quarters.
  • We absolutely loved the park! The number of restaurant's in the town were not to serve the visitors and the service at the eateries was less than stellar. We got a flat tire while there and there was no service for many miles.
  • So beautiful. Great campgrounds, amazing hiking.Buffalo herd and wild horses, coyotes and prairie dogs. One of my favorite places in the world, with gorgeous sunsets, and clear night skies. There is a long paved road through some of the best parts of the park, if you're unwilling or able to hike long distances. At the campground, firewood is expensive, bring charcoal if you're worried about running out of cooking fire. No electricity in our camping spot, but there is an outlet in the bathroom if you need it. Fire is banned sometimes, to keep us from burning the whole park to the ground (it's arid) and there are great options in Medora for meat eaters (the cowboy cookout is ridiculous and amazing), but vegetarians have limited options, vegans even less. There is a tiny market, and a liquor store with a surprising craft beer selection for how small it is, but both are expensive, as the town is only "open" in the summer, and pretty isolated. Dickinson is probably the closest place with a full sized grocery store.
